2005 56cm
Rivendell Rambouillet
(No Longer Available after 2007 stock runs out)
A collision with a SUV necessitated a
recent update with new rims, mudguards and fork.
I built this bike from mostly NOS Dura Ace stock.
The bars are Nitto Noodle 46cm, the stem is a Nitto Tecnomic Deluxe 90mm
Cateye cotton tape, two layers, secured with hemp twine and shellac'd.
Shellac'd Cotton bar tape chainstay protector (I wrapped the stay with
electricians tape under the cotton tape because I was worried the cotton,
even though shellac'd, may retain moisture and cause the stay to rust under
the wrap...)
170mm DA Octa-Link Crank & BB - 53-39-30
12-27 DA 9spd cassette
Blue Wipperman Chain
DA Front & Rear Derailleurs for Triple Rings
The 9 speed bar cons are mounted on Kelly take offs for the next best thing
to STI...without the STI...
Cane Creek levers feel like Campy's with the fat hoods and the Tectro brakes
are long reach to accommodate fat tires and mudguards.
Phil Wood cassette rear hub and Phil front
hub are bricks but will last a long time...or so I'm told...

crash at Tsali in the mid nineties
Nitto hand brazed stainless steel wire cages

Super bright Planet Bike 'Super
Flash' blinkie

Ostrich Bar Bag
The bike is smooth, fast and heavy at
around 24lbs. I did not care about weight when I assembled it. I just wanted it
to work well for a long time because it may be the last bike I own...
